I agree with the first article, having suffered through hiring fresh-outs who only know Java.I have to respectfully disagree about Ada being "the language of software engineering par excellence", though.Show me commercial software written in Ada, and I might change my mind, but I'm fairly certain it's only people doing government/military work who use Ada, and then only because they have to.I would add that you also need to learn a little about something outside the mainstream: Ruby, perl, Python, and F# come to mind.
